Annunciation

 

The Annunciation is one of the most common iconographic themes in the history of western art, Maselli in this series is inspired by these classics works where the skies are opened in a majestic composition of volumes and colors, to give way to divine message of revelation. The final result is a series of photomontages focused on the research on clouds and skies, where color and light are the main protagonists and where the concept of the Sublime and its interpretation in classical painting combine with their application in the religious sphere. The Annunciation series represents a further step in its investigation and interpretation of the concepts of the Sublime and the sacred that has already been addressed in his previous series Hierophanies and Artificial Infinite; if Maselli achieved in the mountains represent a state of ethereal rocks here build a solid state of clouds.
